"It's 2013. Do You Know Where Your Members Are?"

Breathe a sigh of relief. You’ve made it through the last three years with your credit union and members substantially intact. Many of you have even seen significant growth. Now, take a deep breath, and get ready for the pace of change to accelerate. The next three years will see a majority of your members literally a click away from both new and existing competitors. Member needs continue to evolve, and powerful forces are emerging that will compel new mergers and fresh challenges for credit unions of all sizes. The best FIs web sites don’t just provide access to accounts, they provide active money management tools as well as blended, personal service, sales and support. Demographic driven change will demand new products and services. Attendees at this keynote session will see the picture of a new financial services landscape emerge as the dots of both current and emerging trends are logically connected.

"The Economy of the Future"

This presentation is the cat’s meow. A graphic overview of all the important elements of the economy and the dynamic paths they are taking. What makes this valuable for credit union directors and managers is seeing this all in one place. Grasping the overall is by far the most difficult thing for people. The constant barrage of news on TV and in the financial press cannot give you the kind of “aha” experience you’ll have as you sit through this presentation. Every key variable of the economy will be touched on in a way that predicts what is most likely coming next. Special emphasis on where interest rates are going. There’ll be a sketch of coming perturbations to economic and world order. Followed by a short list of coming opportunities and technological advances that will necessitate changes in your financial life and the way your credit union does business. This is the core foundation material of your credit union’s strategic planning. Not to be missed from one of the country’s most accurate economic forecasters who has spoken to credit union audiences for nearly 30 years.

About Dr. Jim Hagerbaumer:

Jim is president of Hagerbaumer Economics in Tampa, Florida. He consults with CEOs and CFOs of financial institutions, advising them on pricing CDs and loans, and on timing purchases in their investment portfolio.

Jim’s weekly report is read by professionals around the country. And he’s written a monthly newsletter on the economy since 1981.

He has a doctorate in economics from the University of Colorado, taught at the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh, and was corporate economist for a Fortune 500 company.

Jim is a former member of the BLUE CHIP panel. For over 25 years he’s had an exceptional record of predicting the economic cycle and interest rates … with many solid, stunning calls.

Not only does Jim boil down financial markets and economic numbers in a way that’s hands-on … his insights provoke you to think.

He communicates all this with an explosive style. You’ve never heard an economist like this.

"Digital Transformation in a New Decade - What Does IT Mean for Credit Unions?"

“There is a digital transformation underway in the global financial services industry. This transformation - shaped by social, economic, technological and political change – is having a dramatic impact on how information, services and content are delivered and shared. Consumers of all ages, with access to an exponentially growing array of electronic devices and applications, are redefining what it means to be empowered and connected.

This digital transformation, offering pervasive connectivity, increasing mobility and more intuitive interfaces, is shaping how and where consumers interact with each other, with businesses and with their financial institutions. Innovation is accelerating as companies find new ways to harness technology to capture consumers’ imaginations – and dollars.

For credit unions this new era of digital transformation offers myriad opportunities and also poses a number of important challenges and potential threats. This session will review these and will attempt to forecast the fundamental changes that will occur in the financial services during this decade and how credit unions can (and should) respond to them."
